[Aside: This is a painfully outdated page, that deserves to have all sorts of new entries added. But I'm going to let it languish a while longer.]
Like many "science nerds", I tend to be somewhat introverted and I don't form close friendships quickly. But the friendships I do have are very important to me, and I've found over time that I care a great deal for many people in my life. I could never hope to list all of those people here, and I can't stomach the thought of "ranking" them to decide who to list and who to leave out.
Thus, I've decided not to even try making a general list here. Instead, I'll just provide links to pages about specific groups of friends. It's far from being a perfect way to handle this sort of thing, but it's the best solution I could come up with.
- My Prom King story involves some of my best friends from high school.
- Inertia Suite was the unofficial name of the corner of East Dorm where I lived for three years at Harvey Mudd, and more generally it was a sort of "group name" for a number of my close friends there.
- Some of my friends at the University of Chicago have had a weekly movie night for several years. We've watched a lot of movies in that time, many of them very good. The curious can even look at an example of our voting form, a CGI script that I wrote. I won't even try to explain the overly complicated voting system.
