Inertia Suite

During my freshman year at Harvey Mudd, I found that I got along very well with my roommate, Geoff Finger, and my two suitemates, Ben Elgin and David Bunde. We also became good friends with three of the four girls in the suite upstairs from us, Kim Yarbrough, Sunmee Jang, and Emily Soper. When the time came for room draw in the spring, we just stuck together for the most part. The four of us downstairs didn't change our arrangements at all, Sunmee and Emily moved into a room together, and Kim got a South single. When we decided not to move, I suggested the name "Inertia Suite" as a wonderful (or as some say, "bad") physics joke. Happily, everyone else liked the idea, and the group name was born.

Over time, others became a part of the greater Inertia Suite community. Mathias Gehl was an early addition, soon joined by Beth (Coleman) Leonard and Lion Kimbro, and before long a wealth of others. Over time, the group became extremely close, even when some of us left Mudd for various reasons. Now that the group has scattered around the country, it's harder to call us "Inertial" anymore, but we still try to keep in touch, and to visit from time to time.
